Museums II

Museum Frederic Marés

Location: "Pla Sant Iu, 3-5"
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday and Holidays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Marvel at the beauty that human hands can make with the sculptures from 12 th to 17 th century.



Museum in the Cathedral
Opening hours: Open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Features gothic religious art and paintings of the Catalonian school.


Museum in the Monastery of Pedralbes

Location: "Baixada Monestir, 9"
Opening hours: open workdays and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday and Holidays closed.
Features the things that monasteries used and lived by with.


The Barbier - Mueller Museum of Pre-Columbian Art

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 7pm (groups by prior arrangement after 10am) Saturday from 10am to 7pm, Sunday and public holidays from 10am to 3pm, Closed on Monday (except public holidays)

Admission free on the first Sunday of the month from 10am to 7pm.
Admission: 3 General, 1,50 Students, pensioners, unemployed, large families, etc., 2 Groups of more than 10 people, under 16 years old, free access.


The Barbier - Mueller Museum of Pre-Columbian Art is the only museum in Europe devoted exclusively to Pre-Columbian cultures. This tiny museum contains some one hundred pieces, including ceramics, stone and wooden sculptures, tapestries, jade, an archaeological ensemble often found in international exhibitions and reputed publications. The cultures represented include the Aztec, Olmec, Maya, Inca, Chavin and Mochica civilizations.



Housed in a Gothic palace, its collection gives visitors an insight into the rich world of the earliest cultures in the American continent. The collection features the human groups which inhabited the territory between Mesoamerica and South America before the arrival of the Spanish.


Museum of Modern Art

Location: "Parque de la Ciutadella. Plaza de Armas"
Opening hours: open daily except Tuesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This place is alive with the paintings and sculptures from the 17 th century until today. Especially remarkable are the works of Casas, Fortuny, Zuloaga, Russiñol, Solana, Sunyer, and the "Harlekin" of Picasso.


Fundación Miró Photo

Location: "Montju Plaza de Neptú"
Opening hours: open Tue, Wed, Fr 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thu 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.m., Holidays 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

This place offers your discriminate taste a private collection of the famous artist. It also includes exhibitions of his works, a library, an auditorium and regular additional performances.


Museum of Ceramic

Location: "Palacio de Pedralbes"
Opening hours: open Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday closed.

Never has ceramic been displayed in such bold spotlight than in this museum. Here you ll get to see ceramic in all its forms.


Museum of Decorative Arts

Location: "Av. Diagonal, 686"
Opening hours: open Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday closed.
Outrageous collection of tapestry and other objects of art to tickle your fancies.


Museum of Art, Industry and Popular Tradition

Location: "Pueblo Español de Montju
Opening hours: Visit after confirmation.
Art is beautiful, and everything else is a matter of dispute in this museum.


Museum of Graphic Art

Location: "Pueblo Español"
Opening hours: Visit after confirmation
The strongest graphics, some of them to assault your senses, can be found here.


Museum of Holography

Location: "Jaume I., Pla de Sant Jaume"
Opening hours: open Monday to Saturday 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 5.30 to 8.30 p.m., Sunday and Holidays closed.

Archaeological Museum

Location: "Montju Paseo de Santa Madrona"
Opening hours: open Monday to Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 3.30 to 7 p.m., Sunday and Holidays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This place has the coveted expositions of Balearic culture and Roman mosaics. Along with it are collections of objects from pre-historical times up until the 7 th century.


Ethnological Museum

Location: "Av. de Santa Madrona"
Opening hours: open Mon, Thu 10 a.m. to 7 p.m, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
With interesting objects from pre-Columbian America, Philippines, Asia and Africa.


Perfume Museum

Location: "Passeig de Grácia, 39"
Opening hours: open Monday to Friday 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 4.30 to 8 p.m., Saturday 4.30 to 8 p.m., Sunday and Holidays closed.
