Antoni Pl Guillem Gaudi i Cornet (25 June 1852-10 June 1926), in English often translated as Antonio Gaudi , was an architect from Catalonia. He followed the modernist style and is famous for his controversial, unique designs.

Gaudi is famous for pushing the modernist style to the edge. In the early years of his career the majority of the people ridiculed his work.
Antonio Gaudi
After five years of study, he was awarded the title of architect in 1878. As he signed the title, Elies Rogent declared: "Qui sap si hem donat el diploma a un boig o a un geni: el temps ens ho dir Wich means the following; who knows if we have given this diploma to a nut or to a genius. Time will tell.

Over the years people started appreciating his work and the people of Barcelona fell in love with it.

If you pay attention to it, you will be able to find little details from gaudies work in the streets of Barcelona. He has completed several masterpieces in the capital of Catalonia. Such as Park Güell and the Casa Battló .

Antonio Gaudi devoted the last years of his life to the Sagrada Familia ; the unfinished masterpiece in the heart of Barcelona. Gaudi was an ardent catholic; the Sagrada Familia is an enormous cathedral build in Gaudies unique style. He started working in the Sagrada in 1884, Gaudi passed away in 1926, leaving his creation unfinished. Till this day the Cathedral hasn t been finished. Experts estimate it will be finished in 2026, but others say that s to optimistic.

Park Qüell , Casa Battló and the Sagrada Familia have their own section on this website. Here you can find more information about the work of the architect
