Christmas is a prepared celebration that almost all people are celebrating every once a year. Whether some culture celebrates Christmas on December or Mid-January, the thought of commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ is acknowledged in the world.

This celebration does not exempt Barcelona as one of the cities who celebrated Christmas according to their culture. There are various ways where Christmas is celebrated in other countries, but Barcelona has a unique way of celebrating Christmas, especially when it comes to food preparation.

Since Barcelona is a city near the coast, seafood dishes will always be included in their Christmas food. Salmon, Prawn fish, cod, and shellfish are few of their basic ingredients for a special meal. Likewise, soups are integrated because of the cold winter months. One famous soup meal in Barcelona is sopa de galets, a delicacy composed of meat, vegetables, and pasta.

Do you know that chestnuts are also a trend to Barcelona during Christmas seasons? The people in this city are so into roasted chestnuts you can usually see being sold on the streets. Nonetheless, the most recommended place to buy for fresh and affordable chestnuts is the Boqueria market located at the La Ramblas.

Polvorones and marzipans are sweets that Barcelona people are also fond of eating during Christmas times. Both sweets are made up of almonds and sugar, though marzipans have cheaper options nowadays that are made up of rice flour and potato starch.

Another common yet famous desert among the people in Barcelona is the prune crema. With delicious ingredients like red wine, dried prunes, caster sugar, double cream and egg yolks, this delicacy becomes a mouth-watering treat for Barcelona folks especially when they mix it with fruits and crispy toppings.

Christmas in Barcelona is delicious, isn’t it? So if you want to have an extravagant taste of these delicacies, you are recommended to spend Christmas in Barcelona. You can either take your family with you for an exciting Christmas vacation or you can have a unique bonding with your group of friends.

Almost all countries are really looking forward to this momentous event. This is the time where people will remember their families in a sentiments and just gather together to celebrate. This is also the time where giving and exchanging of gifts are liberally given. Love and generosity is usually the theme of Christmas season.

Christmas in Barcelona is extravagantly celebrated by implementing Christmas cultural traditions. Usually, the eighth day of December– also Spain’s Feast of Immaculate Conception– is the day the people of Barcelona starts to decorate.

One of their most ornamented decorations is the Nativity, an embellishment that pictures out the stable where Baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem along with Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and other animals, and the three kings offering their prestigious gifts.

Cagatió, another decoration displayed in Barcelona is done even as early since the 60’s. This is a painted log with a face wearing a barretina, a traditional red hat. People in Barcelona and even in Catalonia make this decoration as a symbol of fertility for the next years to come.

Spanish people really look forward to Christmas, especially the upcoming Christmas Eve. This is the time when they prepare ample meals along with their own families and friends in one dinner. Typically, their dinner starts with Carn d’Olla, a soup made of large pieces of meat cooked for hours to make it thick and rich to become a soup. After it’s being cooked, the meat is then separated and Galets (large pastas that looks like snails) are added to the meat. This mixture then becomes the starter.

Desserts during Christmas dinners in Barcelona are Turron(comprised of nuts and almonds) and Polvorones (made from almond paste). Then after eating dinner, the people in Barcelona go out and greet a Merry Christmas, including the giving of Jamon or Cured Ham as gifts.

When they get to mingle with their friends and relatives, they also sip their special drink called Cava (Spanish Champagne) and enjoy playing musical instruments like Zambomba (Spanish drum), Pandereta (tambourine), and Botella de Anis. And of course, no one misses the singing of Christmas carols to complete the whole celebration.

How about you? How do you celebrate Christmas in your country?

Barcelona City is the undeniable one of the very significant cities in Spain. It is the distinct and vibrant region of Catalonia. The life in the city bubbles with its beautiful markets, trading centers, spacious and lively squares, and numerous wonderful sights to uncover. Additionally, the gardens have never been elapsed when colorful and striking sights are what visitors seeking for; known to the fact that Barcelona is a city in Europe which is famous for its parks.

And of these is the Montjuic Park, to be found on the top of a hill on the site of the old side of Barcelona. The said park’s path is a former street route located in Barcelona, Catalonia and is believed to be the best of all time. You are free to wander around the park and take the air tram while viewing some of the gardens within. Some of the most attractive are the Nou Jardí Botànic- a botanic garden that has planted more than 2000 different plants and the Jardins de Mossen. This is a great place to hang out when you like to escape from the masses for a day.

The park is such a perfect place to view a couple of pictures of Spain because of its spectacular views from uphill. From there you are about to see the phenomenal and a large Oceanside overlooking the city. Otherwise, visit the National Palace just within the park. It is a building with a historical existence. This is Palace that was developed into the National Museum of Catalonian Art, and then once you have gone into the sighting area you can have a drink and smooch some foods.

However, if your time is limited be sure not to miss out the fountain which is the main attraction in the Montjuic Park. But this can only be seen during nighttime. It is not likely to form part of the park’s journey as in all probability to be up on Montjuic. At night the lively multicolored lights of the fountain can be amusingly watched from ground point, so you do not necessarily go up to the park to observe it. If you’re in the mood to give in to a city’s charms, Barcelona is the set to be.

Just like any other European cities, Barcelona- a city in Spain which has factually possessed the high stability when tourism is in concern. The citizens of this specific metropolis are essentially sensible and stylish in a way that they acquired dress codes to follow. Although it is not really an obligation for the system to follow, thus, it all depends on a person’s desire.

Barcelona is quite a style conscious mode city because Europeans have greatly influenced by their religious beliefs. That is why, the inhabitants and even tourists themselves learn to adjust and connect to what has had been implied. If you wish to mingle with the locals, you have to dress for a sophisticated look.

The Spanish do really think about their personal look. In particular to Catalan people, the majority of them do not actually wear casual or informal dress. They are enthusiastic on designer outfits but the quality and fitting is even more vital to them.

Looking upon on Barcelona dress codes, if you find it hard to attach on this system is not hard even so; plenty of Spanish clothes with high quality are available at a reasonable price which is useful for tourists. However, setting aside all the practical reasons have added benefit of having an acceptable cause to do some serious shopping relatively of just being a tourist visit in concern to the experience.

As a guide tips, if you are a kind of economical shopper, it is not necessarily to purchase designer’s clothes. All seems matter is on how you bring yourself on it. Do not wear bright, tasteless colorful clothing because as you have been aware of, the Spanish prefer more autumnal-related colors like green, burgundy, and yellow.

Apart from color selections, be careful with the styles as well. For women as an example, women in suits of conservative type are more satisfactory, while for men, business attires with ties is recommendable; you will certainly be classified as a savvy tourist if you know about the customs and way of life in Barcelona. Respecting the dress codes implemented by the city, there are several definite advantages indeed, since the locals living here follow the rules.
