Barcelona Main Tourist Attractions Part I
Barcelona is in Autonomous Community of Catalonia, the 1st level political part of the country. The Kingdom of Spain has 17 political divisions. As tourist planning to travel to Barcelona, it is but nice to read some truths about the place before packing your bags to hop around the city’s places of interest. It is expected that life and tourist activity is buzzing in this metropolitan area. There are most recommend that you walk when touring Barcelona. There is more to experience and see when you tour the city by foot.
Our first stop is in the heart of Barcelona- Placa Catalunya, it is a massive square which is the location of the old city and Example; and deemed as the city centre of the city. A square means a plaza or open area in a city shaped by intersecting of streets (Rambla de Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia, Portal de l’Angel, La Rambla, Carrer de Pelai, or Carrere Vergara and Ronda de Sant Pere), and often toiled as a garden or collection of not only the arts but also of history’s past as in the case of Placa Catalunya. The Eixemple is a district heavily influenced by Antoni Gaudi’s works.
Pastor de Pau, Joseph Llimona, Francesc Macia, and Deessa are the beautiful sculptors that you can take pictures in the square. Theaters and cafes once exist in Placa Catalunya but it was destroyed in the Civil War; except Café Zurich.
Transportation in this part of Catalunya is not a problem. A day bus and nitbus (nightbus) are available for your convenience; a metro is also available.
Placa Catalunya is just ONE of the many main attractions in Barcelona; and using it as the basis for directions let us list the other main places of interest in the city which are: FC Barcelona and Sants train station in the northwest; Magic Fountains, Museo national d’ Art Catalunya and Colom on the southwest; Catedral and Placa glories Catalanes on the southeast; Park Guell and the Sagrada in the northeast.
